The ‘Understanding and Responding to Domestic Abuse’ course is a one day training course aimed at professionals. This course aims to:

* Explore the various forms domestic abuse takes

* Outline how people are controlled within relationships

* Look at the origins of the abuse

* Examine why people stay in abusive relationships

* The impact of domestic violence

* Raise awareness of the impact on children and families

* Explain how to risk assess and the MARAC process

* How to respond to disclosure of domestic abuse

* Inform participants of the practical options available to people    experiencing domestic abuse

* Introduction into forced marriage and an overview of women with no     recourse to public funds
